On the Corner of 1^st and Winter

 

Since that day,

God, it seems so long ago,

 

I’ve waited here,

On the corner of 1^st and Winter.

 

There have been others,

To come and stand with me for short times.

 

But it was always you,

Whose face was engraved in my mind.

 

Whose smile I yearned,

Whose hand I reached for.

 

Oh, I suppose I’m a fool,

For waiting for you,

 

For believing in you.

Beautiful poem Nora, and I love the concept of street names. Especially the names you chose. First, like first love. And winter, for the death (plants die in winter, etc.) of the relationship. So there the persona stands at the moment she and he fell in love, and yet with the moment he and she fell apart.

Keep the poems coming darling.
