Photographs of SkylinesA Poem by Death's PoetI'm processing death. But criticism is still welcome
It's been a week since the last time
I knew I'd ever touch your skin I knew it would be cold. But I recoiled still. Not wanting it real. Today I thumbed through some photos I saw skylines, of trips we took together And I smiled. Then I saw a photo of you. My fingers faltered, then paused Taking in your face, I smiled, until I realized There would never be a new trip. I finally slide the photo from the top Placing it behind the stack in my hand It's another skyline. And I frowned. I now hate that skyline. On July 16th, 2021, the skyline would be there But you wouldn't. And these photos of skylines Of millions of people In thousands of cars Behind hundreds of windows Now feel empty Because they don't have you.
