sick days

sick days

A Poem by DecentlyOkayWriter
"

aches don't seem so bad when there are warm hands

"
numbing, a tylenol on a rough afternoon
small and inconsequential, seemingly

eyes shut tightly, ruefully
dull, awful pains. . enduring, somehow

it feels like forever now,
but it's these days that you never remember

mind filled with displeasure
you hate taking sick days

still, there's someone with a careful gaze
you don't want to feel their salty tears

so you stay in bed, wrapped in their cares
aches don't seem so bad when there are warm hands

Knowing someone is there makes being sick a little bit better. It's the caring part that acts like medicine itself.
