simple things

simple things

A Poem by DecentlyOkayWriter
"

for that is the only reason

"
what is more blessed than watching the cardinals
sing high up in the trees?
a hot afternoon, swirls of high-fat strawberry ice cream
do you think we realize how fragilely beautiful we look
singing funeral songs?
for that is the only reason
I want to leave piles of roses on every grave
not for the dead, but for the living who are

so tender

in their grief

roses that are red, like the simple miracles we once had.

And those miracles once walked among us and held our hearts...a song for them.

This is beautiful and reminds us that even in our grief we must celebrate their lives...
