Its weird how things can come together and fall so quickly
You think you're set and the misery has passed
But in the end it was just all a f*****g illusion
You wonder if its Satan playing with your mind
Or if God had destined you to this way of life
Catharsis' are painful, but I guess what's more painful
Is when you're innocent in spite of it all
Maybe I'm naive, but you can't blame me
I've gone through most of my life deprived
Of the simplest things
But maybe its my fault
I tried to prove everyone wrong
Or I'm still here, when I should've been gone
Maybe its my fault
That I tried to prove them all wrong
When in the end, I was only trying to prove God wrong
They say, only children and fools are forgiven
I know damn well that I'm not a fool
'Nor am I a child...
The abyss sinks below me...
And all I see is a corrupting shadow
Of me...I have not changed
And 'nor has this world
I can see the struggle and pain here over self realization and a place on earth without fault. Strong words and easily understandable and relatable. Great poem ^-^
Whilst reading this, I was almost reminded of song lyrics. Either way, I like your wording and the thoughts which you are trying to evoke. Although rather cynical and dark, this may simply be a true reflection of your perspective on life, or simply based on how you felt at the time of writing?
In addition, it seemed as if you were experiencing self-doubt or contradictory thoughts, whilst writing this? Obviously, that's just my impression. Either way, it seems perfectly sincere, and an interesting insight into your mind! Thankyou, Succubi, for sharing this with us. Keep writing!
Wow, this could be the poem that introduces my new book : Memories of a painful but promissing life gone wrong!
A great poem! Felt all your.
Hope it felt a liitle better realissing it from your soul!
