Worth What She Shines Like

Worth What She Shines Like

A Poem by Dennis Shanaberg
"

love poems and such

"

I’ve got such a fickle heart,

Pumping love through paper bags,

And when I fill them far too full,

Oh-- My chest it starts to sag.

Then, she cast a wanton spell

With sad eyes and trembled hands.

Now, my heart’s full o’symphonies

With bass lines and trebeled stands.

I ask...

Is she worth it.

I swear

She is worth it.

Could she be--?
I think

This time

She’s worth what she shines like.

Forget the diamonds in the rough

And pearls of stained glass.

There’s a princess of poetry,

And all I’d want, she has.

She’s worth more--, she’s brighter than

Anything that I’ve seen before.

She burns like bright blue suns

Till we’re shadows on the floor.

Sometime we must take chances. Shining don't mean perfection. But life is chance and luck. I like the description and the strong ending. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
