A Poem by Dennis Shanaberg

this is the writing on the wall

penned in pixels

as i cry out to the digital expanse

a fit of fervor for Facebook

and a touch of terror to Twitter

each view

each like

a share of time

a contact high for my lonely mind

to beg for recognition

as a man on the street

to crave that attention

as an addict so weak

Dear People (that i know nought of?):

Note my wit and candor, wrapped up in creativity.

The applications of my efforts misused as they browse on by…

I stare and stare for something new till my mind has lost its sight…

Pouring my senses into a smart phone--

Each solitary moment alone

Pokes and prods at my loss of self

As I Google how DEPENDANCE is spelled.

This was a fun work....full of downtrodden wit. An enjoyable read.

I love this poem...I can relate to this poem, sometimes it feels like one doesn't exist because the whole world is looking the other way...this last few months I chose to notice my self, make comments on the beauty in me and I feel a lot more better...

Can feel like a lonely and empty world. I could feel the sadness and want to be seen. I believe all of us need to be appreciated and needed. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.
