I wrote this poem when I was 11 years old and I had just met my first Love.

Things these eyes have seen this far
the unfolding of the heart to share
memories of waking dreams,
tangled up in Love, and bare
and opened now the tempting fiend

To understand the course of life,
how it pulls away and never lingers
all the while you twist her hair
between your fingers
and passively you wonder why
you are not where

You can be together.
Loving in the haze of sleep,
intoxicated on smoke and dreams�"
you’ve felt the price of lies to keep,
and touched the joy of promised things
forever changing with the weather.
