I remember the first time
I wrote something just for you
I didn't have a clue
What I was going to do
Other than it had to rhyme ...
Then I waited, my breath `bated
Waited and anticipated
Hoping that it wasn't hated ...
Yes, I remember the first time
That I reached for you in rhyme
