The fork-tongued and clever

Rat didn't ever

Ever change his feathers

Anymore than butterflies

Would shed their leather

And though he wields a sword

It's dull and weathered

And it's never been there

To sever your tethers

I have to admit, I’ve never known rats to have feathers. Although, it’s always been true that calling the wrong man a rat is one of the fastest ways to start a fistfight.

I’m curious who your intended subject might be, or if they’d be somewhat frustrated by having to tolerate an insult without due recourse.
