The Charms of the Schoolmarm

The Charms of the Schoolmarm

A Poem by Desert Knave
"

a sonnet of my favorite subject in school

"
In my lifetime
It's so often
Been the schoolmarms
That have set off
All of my alarms
They've been the ones
That I have wanted
In my arms
They've been the ones
That I have pursued
Risking all harm...
For I cannot
Resist the charms
Of a schoolmarm

Hi Jim, I was charmed by your rhyming essay on the charms of school marms. I don’t remember having a crush on any of my teachers; I do vividly remember the aging male teacher who would put his hand down the back of my pants. As an adult, I never encountered a teacher I would have ever considered dating. As a race I found them universally so poorly read, poorly educated, boring, that I wondered how we could possibly let them teach our children. When I was in college, the people who couldn’t cut it in their first and even second choice majors, typically ended up in education. I suppose my remarks are going to anger a lot of readers if they take note.

Yes, I recall falling for the charms of a few young schoolteachers. Odd that I never dated one later. Possibly feared on some level I'd get a bad grade.
