Isolated & Sedated (The Fold)

Isolated & Sedated (The Fold)

A Poem by Desert Knave
"

a sonnet about solace

"
Give to us the tears you've spilt
All your doubts and fears and guilt
And we'll show you the way
To be happy for all your days
Permanently sedated
And perfectly isolated

Give to us the lies you've been told
And we'll welcome you to the fold
Where you'll never again have to feel
A thing remotely real
Permanently isolated
And perfectly sedated

Give to us all of your cares
And we'll take you all the way there

I love the hypnotic pull of this poem..the repetition and cadence mirror the sedated isolation it describes. It’s dark, haunting, and precise, a meditation on surrendering self to something both comforting and suffocating.
