A Quiet Too Loud for Me

A Quiet Too Loud for Me

A Poem by Desert Knave
"

a poem about my need for background noise

"
I forgot just how harsh
It could turn out to be
Spending a quiet day
As my own company
Without any T.V.
That level of quiet
Sets my mind to riot
It's way too loud for me

I have to confess Jim, I don’t like complete silence for long either. I prefer these days having classic fm on the radio, but it has to be on low. That way I can get on and do all my chores and paperwork. Too quiet, I find my mind fills up with rubbish of my own making:) I enjoyed the read, nicely composed.

What a great poem of modern habituation to noise and distraction. Nicely written it reminds me of how the art of self entertainment has been lost. Well done

Thank you. Yes, electronic, immediate entertainment seems to be all anybody knows. ~Jim
