Even After As Long (As You've Been Gone)

A Poem by Desert Knave
"

a sonnet about talking to a ghost

"
Even after as long
As you've been gone
I still talk to you
I rattle on and on
And sometimes I listen
To hear what you say
As I'm quite certain
That I'll hear you someday
So I still talk to you
When it feels like you're near
Because something tells me
That you always hear
Even after as long
As you've been gone

So relatable Jim. My Dad has been gone thirty five years. I still have conversations with him in my head, and I pause for answers. It helps soften the loss which never really goes. You learn to live with it. A touching piece, nicely composed.

Quiet and tender. The ache is simple, honest, and it lingers in the best way.

Thank you so much. When I can't talk to those I miss I sometimes write to them. ~Jim
