But The Wind Was Stronger

I tried to send my voice to you,

But the wind was stronger.

As it floated past you, you accused me of loving you no longer.

I tried to voice my love for you,

But your pain was louder.

Your denial crumbling my fragile heart to powder.

I tried to touch your troubled heart,

But your scars ran deeper.

To your disquieted hassles I oft was the reaper.

I tried to run to you,

But my heavy steps grew weaker.

As your sound stride, I so lovingly adore, grew longer.

I tried to send my love to you,

But the wind was stronger.

Oh would that someday your love denied me, be denied no longer.

Perhaps the woman in the story was caught in infidelity and even though she realized what it was she truly wanted, the damage was already done and he could no longer hear her begs for forgiveness and her screams for his love.

On the other hand, maybe it was he that was disloyal and she had already forgiven him, but in his heart, he justifies himself by believing she no longer loved him, and her words of love cannot reach his heart as his mind is already made up.

I like the flow of this piece, each line pulling you into the next. Sad and wistful but with a certain strength as the undercurrent.

My favorite line is the third. Great write.
