The Addiction
Here you are, picking up another bottle, with each sip, your mind drifts into a haze" another night of acting out again. Watching you destroy yourself builds a fear I can’t shake, that one day I may never see you again. I fear for your life, your health, but you take it like just another lecture. Father, listen to me: I don’t want to wake to a call and hear you’ve stopped breathing. Dear father, I love you so much, but your actions make me hate you. Each time you reach for another bottle, I wonder why I even try. The longer you walk this path, your excuses will never save you. So stop, just listen to what I say" I’m not trying to hurt you, I’m trying to save you, because I care. Take a glance at your reflection" can you see what the world sees? Each day, you age ten years, I know you’re in trouble, and I know you are hurting. But until you accept it, my helping hand won’t change a thing. Father, listen to me: I don’t want to wake to a call and hear you’ve stopped breathing. I know you want to run, to feel like yourself again. But the poison you consume only numbs the pain, it doesn’t heal it. You fear losing me"but father, you will always have me. Yet looking at you like this, I feel you pushing me away. Dear father, I love you so much, but your actions make me hate you. Each time you reach for another bottle, I wonder why I even try. The longer you walk this path, your excuses will never save you. So stop, just listen to what I say" I’m not trying to hurt you, I’m trying to save you, because I care. Please, father, don’t run away. © 2026 Mika |
