Cruel Beauty

Cruel Beauty

A Poem by Mika

Silence grows louder.
The world becomes quieter.
People freeze in time
while yours keeps spinning.

Promises once spoken
disappear into the air,
leaving murmurs in the wind,
leaving you in the cold,
wishing you could disappear too.

Suddenly it feels like fighting alone,
a war you never chose to fight by yourself.
Like it’s you against what’s left.
Even when someone stands beside you,
you’re both still learning how to breathe
under the weight of the world.

There’s beauty here"
that’s the cruel part.
Something innocent keeps reaching for you,
softening the edges,
making the heaviness worth holding.

And still, beneath it all,
the feeling of being lost.
Wanting to give more.
Realizing effort and love
don’t always add up to enough.

So you keep moving forward,
not because it’s easy,
but because moving backward
was never an option.
