There are two different versions of this poem presented, and a third which will remain unseen, but whose influence can be felt. The original was done in the 5-7-5 of traditional Japanese haiku, but in the course of my research into the Haiku form, I disc

Version 1

The blood-red rose.
At dawn, dew damp petals

Version 2

Blood red rose
at dawn; damp petals
hide sharp thorns.

Both versions of your poem are beautiful and evocative. They both capture the essence of the rose in a way that is both simple and powerful. I particularly like the way that you use contrasting images to create a sense of tension and drama in the reader. The first version is more descriptive and has a slightly more poetic feel to it, while the second version is more concise and has a stronger sense of immediacy. Overall, I think that both versions are effective and well-written.

One of the best 5-7-5s I have ever read...loved the second version a lot!
