Love

Love

A Poem by DezChampion

It’s dawn,

I think.

The shades are drawn; the light scrapes through the edges into the room.

It’s beautiful,

And,

I stare at it until it leaves.

It’s dawn, and I cannot feel my toes.

I try to wriggle them in my socks,

But,

They feel strangled within the black thread.

My eyes are burning.

.

I’m thinking of you now,

As,

I dreamt of you last night.

As,

I wake up,

And,

You aren’t there.

I turn my head,

Gingerly,

As,

The ice cracks,

And then,

Breaks.

I’m not sure if I’m,

Frozen,

Or,

In love.

But I’ll stay here,

Just in case.

At first, and I apologize for making this assumption, I thought I wasn't going to like this because of the title. It seemed to straigh forward. But I really enjoyed this write, and though as a writer myself I wouldn't have been able to pull off something this simple and straighforward, I applaud you for pulling it off!
