To be his lover

With all the enmity, rancor,

and feeling of his failing vigor,

He threw his vexation in waves.

Once again with variable emotions 

of a woman: (love, grief, loath

and many:) the sea took it,

and rested his malice in her.

In perpetual hope to be his lover

Glad you read-requested me becuz I haven't seen much of you at the cafe & I've been sketchy here too. This is a very powerful poem that speaks to me about the many people (could be male or female) in some "hero" or "power" position, easily commanding the adoration of someone (often many) who are willing to take a ton of demeaning s**t off this person. It happens all the time. Go home & kick the dog . . . the dog being whatever love slave happens to be there at the moment. Pretty amazing what a huge character portrait you painted with so few words!
