Freedom DreamsA Poem by Dina
We're all dreaming of a freedom that's not too far out of reach
We believe, to achieve this, we must hurt, lie, and deceive Who promised these things? Why haven't we questioned this? It sounds quite obscene. And not even heaven can guarantee we will last more than a life time. A little girl, so lost in her world, seems to recognize daddy comes home with red eyes. And mommy says "Baby. it's only this time. I promise by tomorrow things will be fine." Yet, that was a lie. By this time tomorrow, he's far out of line. And clinging to two bottles at a time. But baby says: "Why do you stress these things mommy? Like I, he is just living comfortably. Possibly lost in a world of his own." And soon after, tears turn into laughter. As she rolls up a delicate J. She coughs heavy, relaxing her posture. Now the story has managed to change. She's got these red eyes. And they magnify the well hidden inside. Her boyfriend says: "Take a break mami. The weed got you talkin' all funny. I know you might think I be buggin'. But lately, you're always so lost in.. a world of your own." She responds: "Yes. But haven't you made it your home as well? Quite frankly it's far better than this hell. There is no point hurting, and crying, and dwelling. But here's my suggestion: Create a world of your own. You know, We're all dreaming of a freedom that's not too far out of reach We believe, to achieve this, we must hurt, lie, and deceive Who promised these things? Why haven't we questioned this? It sounds quite obscene. And not even heaven can guarantee we will last more than a life time." © 2017 DinaAuthor's Note
