Thunder Storms Soften Me

At 6am I heard the thunder strike
I woke up to see the lighting spike
Then the rain drizzled
And my head went dizzy as I realized,
Here I am again.

This time, with less bravado
This time, with less gusto and more caution
I want to refrain from making this one about you
Because it’s much bigger than that

I have a penchant for finding a muse in many things
Some deserving, and some not
But you my friend, are a ball of wonderous mystery
The Scorpio in you enchants the scorpion in me

I feel my detective hat slipping off as I fall mercilessly into your trap
Without even touching you, I’ve kissed you already
That’s how deep this energy penetrates
I feel you, even when you’re still a few feet a way

This thunder reminded me of someone
And the feelings were unpleasant
The little girl in me just hopes you could kiss me and make me forget it

I am scared here, more like terrified
I don’t want to fall into something I can’t get out of alive

So please promise you won’t be too quick to exploit me
I’ve grown far too tired on this journey
