River

Let me go into the river now,

Let me go into the river.

I hear a song as sad as time--

Bless me, please, God, I know I'm soon to die.

Let me go into the river now,

Though no wound creeps along my flesh.

Let me go into the river now,

I can't survive this test.

Let me sink upon the waves,

Eyes closed away the cold,

Let me go into the river now--

So young was never so old.

Let me go now, let me go.

I can't swim across this water,

No fish so weak ever swam so hard--

Let me go into the river.

Let me go into the river now,

Let me go into the river.

Author's Note

I know I said I won't really ever tell you what my poetry means, but this is one where I will tell you I was just venting stress and not actually feeling suicidal at all. With that said, take this poem as you will. As always, I'm more interested in what this poem makes you will and what sort of visuals it gives you, but any amount of input is appreciated. <3
