I Never Left

My cat died about a year ago so I wrote this for her. As if it was in her point of view. I know it seems strange but she was with us since I was a newborn. She was pretty much a part of the family.

I knew it was over
I knew it was the end
I didn't want you to see me leave
I didn't want you to have to remember

 

Don't drag yourself down
Don't tear yourself apart
I enjoyed every last moment with you

 

Don't blame yourself
Don't regret your choice
I wanted it this way

 

Tell her I loved her
Tell her she was my friend

 

Tell them I never forgot them
Tell them they were the best there ever was

 

Don't live in agony anymore
You should know
I'm still here
I never left your side

 

I'm the brightest star in the night sky
I'm the song you never stop singing
I'm the angel that always guides you
I'm the soul that lives again

 

You have to live for me
You have to hold on for me
I won't let you give in
I won't let you lose your hope
