Heart Of Stone

Heart Of Stone

A Poem by Div
"

just, something i wrote for my mother... and for me...

"

Once tender and soft

Filled with hopes and dreams

It seems like a millennium has passed since you understood that feeling

Or maybe, this feeling has always been a stranger to you

To those who remember

The feeling of unconditional love

Being open and free, about how you feel

Never letting any event stop you from what you deserve

..... It's like a hazy dream, only moments away before it fades from your memory forever

We try as hard as we can to get back to that reality

Those innocent smiles

Unguarded encounters

And best of all, being happy for others

They all seem so impossible now

This wasn't something I chose to become

Life happened

It kicks the s**t out of you and leaves you behind

To pick up the pieces of your shattered self

And no matter how much you try to move on

Ya get knocked down again, and again, and again

To the point where you ask yourself "Why even bother getting up",

"Why not just lay here, and let the world pass by".

As tempting as that is, we can never catch a break

We pick up our s**t and move on, with our guards up,

tears held back, and Hearts of Stone.
