Anything and Everything

My first sonnet.

Battles, conquests, adventures of yore,

myriads of stars, a solitary tree,

facts known to all, new-found lore,

descriptions of wonders only you can see.

Antics of others, the life of a dog,

sea-faring captain, soprano now mute,

thief in the night, ghosts in the fog,

champions, jesters, wizards astute.

Spaceships, aliens, a dying sun,

futures unknown, lost times of old,

with clever twist, a witty pun,

straightforward premise, mystery to unfold.

From thought to thought, line to line link'd,

all in a writer's craft, with pen on paper ink'd.

Author's Note

This is my first attempt at a sonnet -- it's neither iambic nor in pentameter, but the rhyme scheme is there. Feedback much appreciated.

Rhyme scheme is pretty good but the lack of meter is all too obvious And meter is essential to this form
In fact meter is essential to make your words flow smoothly read aloud.The acid test for all poetry
