The House of fearA Poem by Oswald Chesterfield CobblepotMy encounters at an abandoned house in the country, I'll never forget the fear I had in that house. I walk down the hall to an old looking door And turn the Skeleton-Key quickly to the right The door creaks open, revealing the bright color of the sweet moon light This wasn't part of the tour I step inside and flop on the bed, knowing something will happen Superstitious they all call me, with the tone of a laugh But I bet there's more people out there like me on the graph This isn't the normal haunted house someone would picture, with thunder clapping Many people died in this room, breathing their final breath I see a shadow rush by me in a flash Then hear the Chandelier fall with a crash Oh the magnificent things caused by death I see couples dancing lovingly in the moon light They are suddenly set a'blaze by torches of pain Witches they called them, the creatures of hell were slain My heart reached out to them, seeing their looks of fright Next is a mother and child laying in a room of red The child no older than two, reached out with a cry About this time the moon was above the stars oh so high I looked to the mother and child, and they were dead A man yelled from the hall He had red eyes and grinned an evil grin He asked me where I had been An Axe flew beside my head, and crashed with a fall I ran from the house hearing screams of pain and fear The trees rushed by my head in a flash I trip and fall with a crash The last thing I remember is hearing a woman saying "We would love to have you dear" © 2014 Oswald Chesterfield CobblepotAuthor's Note
