That Bully

That Bully

A Poem by Annabelle Lee
"

the strangest things come to mind when I'm folding my socks.

"
I can't believe he just crossed my mind
That boy who used to pick on me all the time
Haven't thought of him since seventh grade
The summer after he went away
He came back to visit, went to the fair
He told me I'd changed, I couldn't believe he was there
He was the bully, that evil little boy
Picked on little Annie threw her around like some toy
When he came back, I gotta admit I was.scared.
What the f**k was he doing there?
Why on earth did he cross my mind?
Haven't spoken his name in two years' time
I wonder where he's at now
And if he remembers little Annie, and wondering, how?
Am I that little girl he pushed around?
Or does he think of me like I think of him now?

Bullies are by their very nature cowards. You have accurately penned their lasting imprint and how , if we let them, they can undermine our well being and confidence. You've done a really nice job of constructing scenarios that many children suffer. I like the inner workings of your thought process throughout the piece. You write from the heart and that is what makes you so good.

Sometimes we shall suffer the torment of leaving behind our destined path and taking our lives elsewhere! ...lol...but we all fall short and go through trials and tributes but we always have the chance of rebirth! I luv the power of emotion(s) displayed, the conflict, very deep insightful scribe poet!

Very powerful and meaningful write. Unfortunately so many times bullies leave more than just physical wounds and scars. They can also leave ever lasting impressions on us that can last the rest of our lives.

O I hate him!
Here's the thing with bullies. They're kids with problems. Not monsters lumbering in the hall way as they may seem or as they're portrayed. It ain't necessarily so that "Bullies are cowards." It is so that their victims say that to make themselves feel better about being tooled by them. Kids bully for a lot of reasons. Unchanneled aggression, behavior problems, acting out problems a home, they have a natural sadistic streak, they enjoy dominating others, whatever their reason may be. The most important moment in a bully's life is the moment he realizes his behavior has concequences for himself and for the kids he picks on. If the kid's lucky enough to be able to self reflect he'll stop bullying right then. If not he's going to be a grown man in a court ordered domestic violence awareness program after paying thousands of dollars in fines and legal fees for popping his wife in the eye and then he probably still won't learn because he's stupid.

Hoo yeah...those boys who pull our pigtails ;-) The harder they pull, the more terrified of their true feelings they are. Yes, I am quite certain he thinks of you. Excellent piece, Annabelle. Very well done.

Hello everyone I am Annabelle Lee. I am FINALLY, after June 12, the ripe old age of fifteen. I'm a poet. I want to write novels, as well, but those do not belong on this site in hopes that someday .. more..
