The Sun Also Sets

The Sun Also Sets

A Poem by Eric Scott something-or-other
"

This is another example of my incessent tinkering.

"

The cracks in the stained-glass obscure

my collection of the images which shine,

shine upon me with their majesty and

radience, shine for me and me only,

and by myself I muster the courage to

see myself in this shining aura, I see

myself reflected in the source of my

Illumination.

But there are cracks, cracks which divide

the projections into disparate and diffuse

dementia. The eyes of my reflection seem

skewed, each looking, not at center, not at me,

but in opposing places, like they too want

to escape, escape the gash my mouth makes,

the rictus renders me dumb, but not before

implanting the horror of my yawning stupidity

upon the glass for all to see. And see

they will, my body broken and battered into

a thousand little crippled segments which

rain down and rend me into ribbons.

The blood stains brown in the light

of my exoneration.
