Certain drugs, many of which are addictive, can cause euphoria, which at least partially motivates their recreational use. But in the end - a price is paid! Great poetic share from the 'users' view point - but perhaps it shows the denial of the withdrawal when not available;
'When your not with me, I want to die
I just lay on my bed and cry'

I was involved with a couple of women in my past that were addicts and you kind of hit it on the head with this poem, I wrote one titled Street Addiction check it out let me know what you think W. R. Stowe
