Losing A Pet

I never knew it would be this hard to lose a pet!

   With all that we have been through,

How will I go on without you?

My worst nightmare came true,

and there's nothing I can do.

   I wish I could hold you tight,

and make everything alright.

The time we had together was the best,

I feel so blessed.

   We had so many great years,

now all I have is tears.

I've had cats and dogs in my life for as long as I can remember - wouldn't call a house a home without one. But the pain of losing them is as comparable as losing a child, and why wouldn't it be since we love and take care of them like one? You need to consider adoption. There are so many animals in shelters that desperately need homes, and the leftover love in your heart needs a place to go. Think about it and give yourself some time to heal. It's really the best way we can honor their memory, to allow the love to grow!

The intensity of your loss is painfully felt thru your words! I will venture a guess . . . it takes me about two years to get over a pet . . . after a year, I stop crying every time I'm reminded of the pet. It's amazing how constantly we interact without realizing . . . they are so attentive, they connect with my every move & thought & fleeting changes in thought.
