Life can Knock you Down

I have been away for awhile dealing with some personal issues, it took some time, but I am now back and doing much better. This is about how life can knock you down.

     Sometimes life can knock you down

and you feel as though you will never be

able to get up, and really don't know if you

really want to.

     I have seen things that I don't ever want

to see again. I have experienced things that

I don't want to ever experience again.

     So many times I wanted to just give up,

then I think to myself, "I am strong, I can

handle this, I will keep going."

     Sometimes life will knock you down,

but I always get up!

Well said Donna, your poem should be on billboards and across buses and at railways stations. So everyone can read this. And not feel so alone and afraid to speak out when they are that low and sad. And want to end it all. Inspirational, heartfelt, real, raw and so true. Felt this way myself so many times. And like you said. But I always get Up!

This is a great way to show others how it's done . . . many artists have tender spirits that get knocked down easily or often. Your personal essay shows how to own our own little breakdowns without feeling bad about it. We each have to do what we have to do. For me, the many intense news stories regarding some aspect of "Me, Too" (sex abuse) . . . brings back bad memories & I need to go off by myself & clear my channels again.
