Lyght on.
Hello.
Light off.
Bye.
Now what? Go home?
I don't think so.
When I trun off the light,
I stand.
I squeel.
Songs run though my head.
I sing, no
I hum. At first.
I walk around the desks, out the door into the darkened hall.
I start to step in time woth the melody, until I sing,
I sing softly, not missing
any words.
I scurry now, adding quick skips.
The hall is emtpy and dark, but I make it warm and lively.
I find I do my best work at night,
in the dark
all alone
with no pressure.
I dance freely now, down the staircase,
into the classroom,
around
and on
desks,
chairs, flitting out and in
again
and
again
The rythme pulses now, fastly beating within me
the room
downt he hall
thoughout the school
into the courtyard where I now find myself.
Hangging on, swingging around a tree, though the doorway
again
Up again, down and up
Up to the top of the stairs.
Falling back on my knees,
Foward, no.
Heels, no.
Flip up, pointed toes.
Stop!
Rolling onto the balls of my feet,
I stop suddenly, and glance into the room.
One light is on. Empty.
Slow steps.
Cautious movements
no shadows
no sounds
Breath
Lights on.
Hello.
Lights off
Good bye.
