Trying to Let Go

Very short poem but it describes one of the main reasons why we have trouble letting go of people.

The lingering thought

That you still think about me,

Unrealistic.

Hope clenches onto pleasant memories,

But the reality,

Those memories hold me back,

Preventing me from letting go.

I like this. It's true that many people find themselves living in the memories of another, but in doing so, they miss out living in the present. Nice job☺
