Alpha Dog

Alpha Dog

A Poem by Cerebriation

Inspiration is a strange thing
At this time in my life
I know there is only room
For one Alpha Dog
Could I bet that it is me?
Should I put my chips down?
I'm willing
I don't care if you back me
But people change
Some stay
Some go
What's Alpha over there
Is Zed elsewhere
What's Beta to you
Is someone's Omega
So I guess it's just upon perspective
But perspective changes too
Alpha becomes Beta
Beta becomes dead
Perspective becomes clear
Mistakes become wisdom
But only to some
And that wisdom
Is wisdom only to some
So who's to say I'll ever be Alpha Dog?
Who am I to say I'm not already?
Who are you to doubt me?
The train keeps rolling on
Whether you are riding or not
Much momentum rides on these tracks
Until blood no longer flows
Through these hardened veins
I will forever be my own Alpha
And maybe
Just maybe
I will be a conduit
Through which perspective lightens
And whatever Alpha is inside
Shines through
We all are Alpha
We all are Zed
So look at me with the right eyes
Or don't look at all
Cause Zed to you
Is dead to me
Walk on, my brother
Forever more
Walk on.........
