American DreamA Poem by CerebriationAP
It's just that..
This is the real ["American Dream"] Floating down the highway with the windows down Music ringing in your soul Wind whipping past your face Trees flinging by It's not a race, man We were already here all along You make your own dream You find your own pleasures Nobody or nothing can do it for you This might not be the part of the dream you are after But it can be, and is, the opening scene Just ride the wave as far as it takes you And swim the rest out like a champ Take the wind home with you but keep it outside We're living the dream We just didn't know it yet With your face to the road and your foot on the pedal Drive as fast as you can Let the wind whip through the cab Let the moon shine down onto your jeans Pull over on the side of the road Get out and just see it It's everything around us The sky and the trees and the grass The lights and the sounds and the smells When you get back in and get back down on the gas The road will take you on It will take you wherever you tell it to go Just know this You may already lie where you're trying to be Don't let it slip away....
