From the Highest Tree

From the Highest Tree

A Poem by Cerebriation
"

AP Softly awake from nightmarish slumber

"
Falling from the treetops
Way up high
All I see is leaves and limbs and sky
Limbs are moving way too fast
for the life of me, I can't catch a grasp

Thud goes me
At the bottom of the tree
And up goes mud and dirt and leaves
A big ol' splash that none did see
Down it came on top of me

Wet and broken, laid in mud
Swamped with sweat and tears and blood
Hoping someone heard the thud
But no one close was in the wood
'Sep a big ol' bear.  Over me, it stood

Oh! What terror
Oh! What grief
Can't see for fur and eyes and teeth
The big bear needs a tasty treat

To my surprise;  To my relief
The alarm clock screams its screeching beep
Now from my slumber, I can creep
Away from dark, nightmarish sleep

Even if only a bad dream, that just wasn't your day! I guess the bear was thinking "Oh boy, this one's pre-tenderized!"
At least that alarm clock served a good purpose for once.
