I question sometimes whether love can ever be equal. "I spent years refining my heart", deep and beautiful to read. I will come back to this one again.

When love is taken for granted and left to feel unappreciated, something in it dies, and your idea of what you thought this person was, crashes. I have chosen to remain acquaintance with some, but we aren't close anymore, we aren't friends.

Thank you for commenting and for understanding the place I was writing from.
You are a good friend.
I wonder why it is that certain ones don't appreciate the obvious? Could it be that they were never meant to be in the first place???
If that's the case, then it all works out at the end of the day....
Isn't is far better to be with one who loves and appreciates you for who you are?
Lovely poem... thanks for sharing...

I need to work on the format here, but the words are right for the emotion. I give love big... This was written when my love was called into question. Oddly this was not a romantic relationship on my part. I love my friends deeply and openly. So it hurts when it is taken for granted. I have learned to accept how others express their love better now as well. :) Letting go of attachments without letting go of my love.

Thank you again for sharing your talent with us, out here.
Always a lovely read from you Scott. The gift of one's soul is perhaps the most priceless gift of all. Much more so than even the heart, for the heart can be fickle and bitter at times, producing such strife within...but the soul, is our essence... it is everything we are and love combined into a beautiful conglomeration of us. Truly wonderful poem, leaving me in a cloud of thought and emotion. fantastic.

The "weight" of your burdens have a way of balancing out in the end...
I know for a fact that your soul is priceless.... worth more than Gold! xx

Layers of words cannot occlude what was meant to be revealed. Attraction, repulsion... goal-seeking revulsion; all of this and more are in the deck from which our cards are dealt. As this makes perfectly clear that treasure is a word of many meanings. What we value in life reveals much about our values and our worth to others and to the world in which we exist. If they have mass then weight is implicit when other bodies come near. Let's hope the orbits are elliptical or perhaps a near miss. Collisions should be avoided if at all possible.

Collision are magnificent however tragic. Ha.
We all seek our grail, if we only cared to look down we often find the X beneath our feet!! Sometimes we do not see what we have for searching so hard and lose it before we realise how precious is was. We mostly treasure the wrong things, that human nature huh?

It was very much about what we treasure though. Also about growing and learning what to value most...

Oh.... oooops. I do want to thank you for the review and read.
I think we treasure a lot in our lives, don't you? Your title had me hooked before I even began to read your wonderful poem. You cannot put a price on love, that's for sure.
Everything in a relationship is special, the kind words, the intimate side of things even the cutesy, cheesy part, too. Ha.
I loved this.
