Misery Felt Lonely

Misery Felt Lonely

A Poem by David Scott

sitting beside this lake I feel a peace

as it seems like a place I belong,

the quiet waters cooling invisible radiance

into a mist of morning’s considerations

mystical sounds trapped in the confines

of the mind’s shoreline

bounce upon surface tensions,

these creatures unknown, rising

to devour the biting insects of emotions

the face of the dammed

leaking tears,

useless to release the heaviness

pent up behind speckled grey eyes

and I understand this body of water

knowing why misery arrested life’s river

as comfort goes numb

sitting too long…

giving misery the comfort she craves

That is quite good. Being one with the nature is a very good way to console yourself. All your troubles, worries, stress go away once you try to live the nature. The descriptions are quite nice and so is your comparison of life to a river- a river goes on and life goes on. Well-written. Keep writing.

Indeed, you are not damned :)...but, you are dammed and silently leaking
I understood this well. Stunning reflection of a feeling.

The poem is very effective at capturing that elusive quality of serene water, with a lovely little tie down at the end.

Thank you for reading KL.
Good to see your review.
Water has a special energy and I believe the sensitive bond well with such...a lake or river ebbs in time with our thoughts...this is beautiful...gave me a pause...

I am glad we share this in common.
Thank you again for spending some time on my pages.
i was expecting something rather bleak; instead i find myself treated herein to the juxtaposition of mood [&] scene ... the evolution of that feeling, the claustrophobia that seems to set in around your concluding lines...
... all in all, beautifull 'rote, striking imagery, a stellar write & a pleasure to read

i agree: this is indeed a very poignant, soft mystical write...amazing dictation and use
of imagery. love the way your words paints a portrait of misery akin to the lady of the lake
(at least that's how i've read this.) either way, a very brilliant write that is relateable
thank you for sharing...i'll be sure to visit your ink again soon...happy writings :)

I see misery. She wears a diaphanous midnight dress that swirls around her as she wades into to water. She has a pale tragic face that disappears under its surface. After the body stops struggling, drowning produces the bliss of release.
We all drown things.
We shouldn't but we do.
Very poignant poem.

Oh goody, I can't wait to read it. I have a delicious Annabel Lee anticipation now.
Nature can be beautiful, a serene setting to explore and understand but it's beauty can also bring about those memories of who we may have shared these vistas with in the past, allowing sadness to overtake the joy we should be feeling. Really good David.

This paints a really beautiful and sad image. I love how you combine the outside with the inside. Everybody has their peaceful place where they go to think and I am sure with everybody's peaceful place you can find descriptions that could describe their inner turmoil or sadness. Good write thank you for sharing.
