Misery Felt Lonely

Misery Felt Lonely

A Poem by David Scott

sitting beside this lake I feel a peace

as it seems like a place I belong,

the quiet waters cooling invisible radiance

into a mist of morning’s considerations

mystical sounds trapped in the confines

of the mind’s shoreline

bounce upon surface tensions,

these creatures unknown, rising

to devour the biting insects of emotions

the face of the dammed

leaking tears,

useless to release the heaviness

pent up behind speckled grey eyes

and I understand this body of water

knowing why misery arrested life’s river

as comfort goes numb

sitting too long…

giving misery the comfort she craves

You touch on all the senses here. I have listened to the sound of the ocean and allowed it to drown out my sadness. Emotions run free when a person sits communing with nature. Sometimes those emotions are surprising. There is a calming presence in your words. I liked this one. Lydi**

I like the way you use the sound, the reflection and the numbness that can crawl from a body of water on certain days. And when that happens misery has more company than she can tend to. This is deep and well defined David.

Hello Blue! 😀
Thanks for stopping by and leaving your wonderful thoughts.
the lake is glassy, the bob is slowly drifting, i found myself remembering great fishing days with my father...waiting for the explosion of the bass nailing the bait...and streaking across the glass...

and sometimes just sitting so long with no action, that the body starts to rebel...

Ha. Usually it is the frogs who chirp their approval... But yes, very bluesy. 😀
We are never alone when we are with nature... peace and quite can speak volumes to a broken heart.

No need to thank me, I'm just saying the truth. But you're welcome, new friend.
Misery does feel lonely, bitter and sad. We can take comfort when nature speaks to us in many ways, to see the sights and hear her sounds. If we appreciate life, time, relationships, blessings we will advance from this stage to a more peaceful one knowing we have better days, better things in store. An excellent write, brilliant poet....:)))))
