A Poem by David Scott
"

A poem of reflection upon the solace of finding kindred spirits in this world.

"

Hold me tenderly,

in the silken stillness of now.

Hide the child of my suffering

within the tranquil folds of your embrace;

you, who knows my heart…

Reach out your hand~

and pick with me

the fruit of trust.

Bite deeply into the succulence

of unspoken desire…

Visit fragrant satisfaction

upon these twisting, thirsty cracks

of loneliness.

Wet sweetly the lips of longing;

affection’s kiss

ardent upon the neck

of imagination~

Beyond time’s constraint;

oblivious to the patience

death’s waiting holds,

we dare to inhale

a breath of passion,

consummated in the truth

of two souls

known.

Thus have I been sentenced;

mused upon the oceanic swells

of understanding ~

Inspiration has tossed me… disoriented

as I tumble anticipation’s waves,

unattached from the expectations

of all I imagine you to be.

My fragile ego gloriously shattered

upon the ever changing shoreline

I once thought was me…

Love how this comes together and a powerful last stanza too.
It makes me think of a baptism, washed of all past sin, ready for new love.
Beginning a new cycle... With someone who 'gets' you.

Ahhh, sounds like a coming of age then. :)
Emotional maturity breeds inner awareness.
To be loved wholly and completely such that we become more than what we were, yet humble. Beautiful writing here, David.

Hey Fog! Thanks for the understanding review. I really like how you seem to get me. Thank you.
This was just like wading into the ocean from the shoreline. It has an every growing depth until you hit where you wanted the reader to go. I love the piece. It isn't hard to feel this piece, as it concludes, lingering in my mind. I love the lines "Beyond time's constraint; / oblivious to the patience/ death's waiting holds, / we dare to inhale / a breath of passion, / consummated in the truth / of two souls / known." Those lines are gorgeous and vivid to me. Good work!

I find this absolutely beautiful...
This is a deep gratitude from the heart of being loved and understood. Fearless in it's expression, a spirit of freedom, cracking the walls of loneliness...feeling the open air of acceptance, and breathing in deeply it's kind empathic sentiments. A glorious song of devotion sung with majestic voice in the spirit of a thankful heart
