ENEMY SWIM
Gotcha !
Enemy Swim is a lake in Northeastern South Dakota.
This is about how we think. How we think is about
swimming up stream, therefore, "Enemy Swim".
As you may recall, Stream of Consciousness is the name
of a group on Writer`s Cafe.
The thought behind Stream of Consciousness is this,
we can all write, just sit at the computer keyboard and start
to type. After a bit your mind takes over and things that
make a lot of sense start to appear on the screen .
Nobody is sure where the Stream of Consciousness comes
from, or how it works, but if you have a few minutes to
kill I will be glad to stick a toe in this pool of knowledge.
Among other things, thinking has been described as the
process of Yin and Yang. We figure out what we are
going to say, work out some of the details in our mind.
After we have worked out the details of our thought,
the process of correction sets in, the yang.
The process of thinking has been a success. We wrote
an article, everybody loved it. We received numerous
flattering reviews on our article, then our writing died.
What happened ? The average person will fight until
they are out of breath trying to get back their recipe for
success. They had such good ideas before, why does it
not work now ?
Here is what happens. Great thoughts are not static.
They do not repeat using the same type of thinking, over
and over again. We have to upgrade our thinking, our
mind, frequently. Just as the inventor of the telephone
switched gears and started thinking differently when he
invented the light bulb ---it was Edison. Was`nt it ?
You need to have great genes to think great thoughts.
Right ? Bushwa ! No one would ever write a book if
that were the case. You need only one thing---Keep
writing. When you start writing and the "stream of
consciousness" takes over, you are just as smart as
Edison , Hemingway , or Shakespeare. Just give your
brain a chance. It will invent all sorts of things as you
type.
Swim against the stream. Make mistakes, your mistakes
are your instruction. Your subconscious will remember
and self correct, just keep swimming. Got it ?
One could probably write a book on several parts of
this subject, but I think the idea is all most of us need.
We start to write and our subconscious will do the rest.
Just write a lot !
