Sonnet In Colors Of Love And WarA Poem by Earl SchumackerThis poem is composed and structured in the Ancient Italian sonnet style.Sonnet In Colors Of Love And War
Under the impaled moon wounded by hours Red clouds hide, stolen before dawn of day Golden locks on little girls bounce then lay Love light becomes trapped, lost in high towers
What is so precious hidden in power Born in mornings creation from the clay Youths in blue dresses dance away decayed Red lips come kissed at birth in sun showers
Turbulence underscores the cost of war Prisoners have no beauty, only waste Time is one day's labor fought out of need Who waits for strangers, closed behind the door
Pretty comes in pink with a bitter taste A vase of bright flowers red blood and greed
