Under Cover Of Night

Under Cover Of Night

A Poem by Earl Schumacker
"

The great mystery continues.

"

Under Cover Of Night

How many days above ground
Numbered as they might be
With clocks ticking out hours
Like living machinery things
Will there be this time around

Nothing last forever when time gives out
Scattered ashes over oceans on lifted winds
Will find their way to heaven if we breath
As the sun burns out when we leave

Buried in youth too young to die
The mind will never succumb to that
We are wired to survive catastrophe
Hide the dirt under the rug one last time

Buried in youth too young to die
Sad thoughts can never separate us
From ourselves when we are happy
Together we can master the Earth
Hide under the covers till it passes
