Slowly, steady, scarred, so scared

Slowly, steady, scarred, so scared

A Poem by Ecneartia

Slowly
It's time to wake up
From this foolish fantasy
Called "I can settle for less"
While my whole nature
Is craving for so much more.

Steady
Like a wave of unexplored emotions
Overwhelming my comfort
Devouring all that is familiar
Yearning for growth.

Scarred
But I found you
So similar yet different
Like two peaces of puzzle
Or two misfits
That fit.

Scared
My walls are strong and massive
My armour is peerless
Yet I find myself
Willing to let my imperfection
Be seen
By you.

Thousand of words exchanged.
Masks off.
One taste of your neck,
Enchanted.

Shall l take one hundred steps back?

Slowly, steady, scarred, so scared.

Wow this has such pathos as the protagonist describes the pull towards this person while knowing they deserve more. Still they capitulate even under the dark shadow of fear and foreboding. Nice freeverse with a meaty underbelly!

And this as your first piece is really very good. More to come I hope. But just enjoy writing.
