Before It Haunts Me

The despair of detachment,
I am indifferent to these feelings.
I cut them loose because I no longer see them.
The unfamiliarity haunts me,
so I keep my distance.
I know this is suffering.
I kill it before it grows deep enough
to haunt me further.

I nailed the coffin of unsettled matters,
left them untouched, because touching
draws me in.
Heartless as I’ve become,
with no threads of prior involvement,
I would rather bury it away.
The mere thought of attachment
torments my soul.
It seems I am better off
in my solitude, banished from innocence and purity.

this is a beautiful, poignant poem, a bit sad, but understood…. many of us have a sort of detachment problem… and we don’t face up to it… we try to ignore it though it haunts us…we don’t face important matters..keeping our distance from having to face them…..we are in our own solitude….yet we must try to escape this torment….even though it hurts…. your words are clear and your emotions are as well….. i hope you allow involvement in your life…. you will be happier for it…… well written
