In the heart of the writer

In the heart of the writer

A Poem by Elin

When I write,

I get the feeling that I am reading the story,

or that I am walking amongst my characters.

Ever watching their every move.

I get to see them develope,

saying goodbye to their love ones,

feel their tears on my skin.

I can hear the dragons roar amongst the highest tops,

swords clashing behind my back,

and the mighty voices of wizards shouthing high and clear.

And I can even feel the warmness of dragon breath on my face.

I am them and they are me.

But in the end,

they’re just characters in a book,

forever in the heart of the writer.

It's actually a very stressful thing to convey what characters tell us. We want our readers to see eye-4-eye what is in our heads, but it is impossible. The reason is that they bring their own life experience and built-in images to the table. I like this poem though, great images. It feels free and really helped unhinge me a bit.

Very good. Sometimes the characters take on a life of their own. Minor characters demand a louder voice. Or maybe I'm just nuts.

I really liked this and agree. You do go there and I could feel the dragons breath , hear the clashing swords. That's one of the cool things about writing, we get to explore. :) thank you for sharing. I very much enjoyed this poem.
