Canary RoseA Poem by L.M.BEven the purest can fallFeathers ablaze with the colors of day Reds, oranges, and yellows where her colors lay For no pain does the golden bird bear Only her love for all to share There she flies high above the Earth The mere sight of her fills you with mirth The Canary, Queen of Air The songbird, a symbol of care. One day upon the ground There was a red Rose that she found The Rose, her heart jealous and bitter Made her thorns full of hate and litter Jealousy the cause of all her pain Her hate for the Canary makes her petals blood-stain. Poor bird doesn't see the thorn The blood a mortal red, but the Rose doesn't mourn The Rose's thorn the Canary's bone Pierced her heart and made it stone Pain and hate her blood turns fire Down and Down she falls from spire She descends farther and farther into the cold Down and down her moral stole Darker and darker, her blood is now froze Falling from grace she is the Canary Rose.
