My best friend

My best friend

A Poem by Ekio

To the man that I’m not supposed to love.
because your the man I’m not supposed to love and even though I know we’d be perfect together and even though I get butterflies from the sight of your face and even though I look at every photo you post like I could never forget your name I will never have you….. because you and I are not supposed to be together and even though I love you more then the oceans and the trees and what a tragedy it is and it’s true….if the universe would let me oh I wish she would let you go so that we could be together but she will never and you will never know the touch of my hands my lips my love….because you are my best friend….your the man I’m not supposed to love….. but I do.

I feel the bittersweet tension in every line, the butterflies mixed with the ache of knowing it can’t be.

That final line hits deep, loving someone you can only have as a friend is its own kind of heartbreak.

Really moving.
