THE ALIENS 2A Poem by Eli RoseSecond in a four-part series of poems that share a title.THE ALIENS were only drawings in our
sketchbooks, were just cut-out images
pasted onto our movie reels. We arranged our green with two oval eyes and they gleamed through Las
Vegas nights. It gave us some comfort,
maybe. But there is nothing in the
universe so lonely as that signal, shot into the sky hurtling for centuries through the void photons, burning bright trails against the unimaginable darkness through the light-years and
light-years of star-silent space projecting onto the surfaces
of empty planets that small alien face, green
with two oval eyes but only human arms, human
legs and a message, you never
came. you never came. © 2010 Eli RoseReviews
